I love a good love story where it starts with them meeting a local restaurant with some friends. It’s the best kind. Hanging out with friends. Enjoying a good atmosphere and bam, your life is now forever changed by one seemingly “normal” activity!
Such is the case for Sarah and Dayton. No big deal, just a hang out night with the friends at Crusens on Farmington Road. The next two details just might be my favorite part of their whole story…..In Sarah’s words,
“I knew the night we met that he was one of a kind and that I couldn’t let a catch like him get away.”
I mean whoa, this guy must have made some kind of impression on her, so then as I got to her telling me about their first date I was expecting something pretty, well pretty fabulous.
“Our first date was to go see The Campaign and then he took me to Taco Bell. He was soooo romantic. Haha!”
I seriously laughed out loud. I mean that date just screams classy, right?!?!
Sarah had to go on a business trip to Vegas (I know, bummer right?). Well Dayton decided to fly out for a few days to join her. Seems like something any normal guy would do when their girl is in Vegas for business!
One night as they were walking back to the hotel Dayton got a little goofy and just took off running. Getting ahead of Sarah and back to the room before him. All Sarah could do is think about how silly this man that she loves was. Well, he beat her to the room and then as she came running in behind she entered the room to find him simply waiting for her on one knee with the ring. And a simple question of:
“Will you make me the happiest man on earth?”
What I love about their story is the beautiful simplicity of it. There wasn’t anything big and flashy. From their first date to their proposal. And yet it was so perfectly, uniquely and preciously theirs. One of those stories that brings a really simple smile to your eyes. In other words, nicely done Dayton, nicely done.
Sarah stayed very low key in her planning process. She and her mom would casually go out shopping and just work at checking things off the list. One of the best things that I can hear a bride say about their planning is what Sarah said,
“I never felt stressed and always had the support of my husband when big decisions needed to be made.”
That is simply the best! So on that note, one of my favorite parts about Sarah finding her dress with us is that we are the ONLY place that she went looking. She really thought that she would need to look everywhere and see everything. But as soon as she walked in the store she couldn’t get over how beautiful everything was.
“It took me trying on about 7 dresses until I found ‘The Dress.’ As soon as I walked out of the dressing room and looked in the mirror, I knew it was the one. It was by far the easiest decision I made!”
I love it! Yes, it is an easy decision and what I appreciate about Sarah is her willingness not to overthink it. I see it happen so many times. A bride reacts in a dress she knows it’s the one but then all of a sudden she starts to shut down. Or plays the, “but what if there is something else” game. It’s ok!
Planning a wedding is hard and it can be stressful. But what I want brides to know most of all is just what Sarah said. The brides that have the least amount of stress in the planning process are the ones that are ok with seeing something, loving something and checking it off the list. And I am not just talking about dresses here. This truth applies to all things wedding. There are about a million and one decisions to make in a wedding with about a billion and one options. If you love something it’s ok to go with it, make the decision, book the venue, the florist, the photographer. Choose the invitations the decorations and the cake style. And then move on to the next set of decisions.
Thank you Sarah for being such a wonderful bride. Thank you for enjoying the process instead of overthinking or stressing about the process. And most of all thank you for sharing your story. Join us next time as I share with you a little more about her wedding day and some special things she incorporated into her day. But for now, enjoy just a few more images by the amazing Lauren Anderson Photography of this beautiful bride and her handsome man!
Until next time – XOXO,
