I have already said countless times how much we adored working with Sara. But I will say it again. Sara will truly go down in the books as one of our all time favorite brides. Her sweet spirit and constant smile were always such a breath of fresh air in the boutique. One of the things that I was so proud of her for was her planning. She made so many decisions so far in advance from her wedding. And it was such a good thing! It created so much less stress for her in the long run, but I will get into more of the specifics on that later. For now I will let Sara describe what it was like to find her gown because no one can say it better than her!
My experience with Adore started with a bridal show in January 2015. I went to the bridal show with my mom. At first we were going to skip Adore since I really had nothing planned and was so torn about what dress I would even fall in love with. We ended up going to Adore’s popup store and was looking through the dresses. A consultant (Jenny) came up and ask if i wanted to try on a dress, so I choose a dress and it made me feel beautiful. I couldn’t stop looking at the dress.
So, mom and I made an appointment for February 13, 2015. When it came time for my Adore experience I was so excited. Adore called me a few days before my appointment to ask questions about what I was envisioning for my dress. When the day came I had my favorite people with me to help me pick out the perfect dress. I had my mom (Patti), my aunt Debbie, my “future mother-in-law” (Denise) and my best friends Katie, Andrea and Stephanie.
Jenny was my bridal consultant and she put me in every style, but there was definitely dresses that were not me. When she brought in the last group of dress I saw the dress and knew that I wanted to try that dress on. When I tried on this blush looking dress, something in me just knew that this was the magical dress that would bring the whole wedding together. It was the only dress I had tried on that I sat down and put my bride shoes on with. But there was still that dress that I tried on at the bridal show that I could not get out of my head. I finally had my dress narrowed down to two and just didn’t know what dress was going to be the winner.
I ended up having my mom Skype my sister into the appointment since she lived in Alaska and I just thought maybe Kelsey would know what dress would be the winner. After talking with all my loved ones, mom and I pulled into the dressing room and were talking. I remember saying “which one would Grandpa love”…my grandpa had passed away in April 2013. Grandpa was my biggest fan and I just wanted his approval of the dress. When the tears appeared I knew that the blush dress was the dress and I said “I Adore the dress.” I was extremely excited to show everyone the final dress choice.
I was so grateful for Jenny and the whole Adore team that helped make my experience one of many magical days in my life.
One of the most wonderful things about working with Sara was her desire to get things done! She recognized the benefit to having decisions made early so that way it created less stress in the long run. That means she had her gown purchased 16 months before her wedding, bridesmaids at 11 months before the wedding and tuxedos at 8 months before the wedding. No, you do not HAVE to do things that early but you CAN. There is no such thing as too early and no Sara NEVER second guessed herself and absolutely adores every decision that she made still, even 11 months after her wedding! 🙂
Sara was clearly dreaming of that fairytale Cinderella wedding. And the girl loves her pink, so when Jenny pulled that blush pink ballgown into the room we all just knew it was going to be the one. Yes, she says she was between two dresses for awhile but there was no doubt in our mind that she would end up in her fairytale blush pink ball gown.
Another element that was so wonderful about working with Sara is that we picked everything out while she was in the gown. We were able to pull the whole look together creating her unique bridal look, including some custom cap sleeves that matched just perfectly!
I have always envisioned my girls in PINK! I love pink and sparkles so I knew that pink was going to be the color. But all my girls were like “eww pink.” Well I took 3 of my 7 girls dress shopping and basically made them play dress up for me until I found the dress. We narrowed the dresses down to two and ended up going with this beautiful full lace gown…little did I know it did not come in pink. In the end my girls won the color of dress war but don’t worry they all had pink shoes, jewelry and nails. All of the girls looked absolutely beautiful in their navy dress.
For the groomsmen we went with grey suits and pink ties to help incorporate the pink into the wedding party. For the groom he did not wear any pink but it was because I wanted him to stand out so he wore his Marine Corps uniform. With the men behind him in grey the Blues stood out perfect.
One of the things that we appreciate as well when it comes to dressing your party is getting you to think a little outside the box. I know Sara so badly wanted her girls in pink but all it would have done is take away from the beautiful blush of her wedding dress. The PERFECT compromise was to put her girls in the navy blue lace. They were still able to do pink accents which made the look so fun! But do we see how it all tied in together? The groomsmen in their grey suits with pink ties. The groom in his Marine blues (oh he looked so handsome!). The girls in their navy lace with their pink accessories and flowers. And the bride in her blush pink dress with her silver bling. See how everyone has an element that ties it into each other and therefore altogether? We get SO excited to help you look outside the box and pull these themes together!
We are so grateful that Sara decided to go ahead and wander into our pop up shop and get so excited about her Adore experience. She brought the people with her that she wanted to experience this with. And when the choices got hard she used technology to be able to bring her sister into the decision making process. I loved her willingness to do that and so thankful that technology allows us those opportunities. I also adore the fact that her final decision was made by thinking about what her grandpa would like. Even though Sara had “plenty of time” she didn’t second guess it or think about waiting. She knew she wanted to get married in this dress and she felt confident saying that this was it. That is our dream. That our brides are able to say with such confidence that it is their perfect dress that they can imagine walking down the aisle in. So we thank you Sara. We thank you for trusting us with that process, with choosing those gowns for you and with allowing us to help you outfit your entire wedding look!
Until next time XOXO,
